Chapter 29 [Ryuji Suguro]

Us guys had headed out to the baths when I noticed Shima inching closer to the girls’ side. ‘What do you think you are doing?’ I yelled, Shima rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. ‘Oh nothing just getting a good read from this side.’ He responded with a confident air, ‘you do know that Suguro will beat the living crap out of you if you try peeking on Mira.’ Rin stated with accuracy; ‘oh come on I wasn’t going to look I thought I just might hear something interesting.’ Shima defended, ‘oh really like what?’ I questioned back; ‘well don’t forget there isn’t much else to do in a hot spring but talk and since the girls are all alone I can bet you it will be something personal.’ Shima continued; ‘and why should we care?’ I continued to question lifelessly, ‘you of all people should, after all don’t you want to know what Mira is telling the other girls about you?’ Shima questioned, it looked as though he had caught Okumura’s interest. ‘What makes you think she is talking about me?’ I asked as both Shima and Okumura gave me a blank look with a hint of pity. ‘Hmm maybe because you are her boyfriend and that’s what girls tend to talk about.’ Shima sighed, ‘I have to agree man she talks about you more then I care to hear.’ Okumura nodded in agreement; ‘what the hell has she been telling you?’ I barked back realizing the seriousness of what they have been saying. I mean after all Mira has a right to talk about me since I talk about her, but I would never talk about matters that were too personal... I felt my face heat up as the others smirked.

Okay I know I shouldn’t be eavesdropping but Mira doesn’t take things as seriously as I do. It’s not that I don’t trust her but I can’t help but wonder what she really thinks about our relationship. As the three of us got closer I could hear the two girls conversing.

‘By the way how far have the two of you gotten?’ Riiko questioned, the guys turned to face me as my heart rate quickened and a deep blush was plastered on my face. ‘Honestly...’ Mira spoke, I felt like punching down the wall. I could tell the guys wanted to hear this by the look on their faces; obviously this was something I would never discuss with them. ‘Not as far as I would like, however that is okay with me.’ Mira spoke in a gentle tone, making my anger subsided. ‘Ryuji is a very serious and passionate person, due to that he never lets his urges take over which is something I really respect about him. He is extremely thoughtful and caring and when he looks at me it’s like I can feel just how much he treasures me.’ Mira spoke, both the guys turned to look at me in shock. ‘It’s not like him and I haven’t discussed it before, he can be stubborn but I wouldn’t change anything about him. I will wait for him to make the next move as hard as it is, I can tell it’s getting hard for him to resist though.’ Mira laughed, I heard Riiko laugh back, the guys also had a bit of a chuckle, which didn’t help with my embarrassment. ‘You and Suguro are opposites in a lot of ways but I think you two are a good match.’ Riiko stated, ‘what do you mean?’ Mira questioned, I had to admit that I was also curious of her answer. ‘You bring out the best in each other, It’s kind of hard to explain but it seems like you help Suguro expand from his set patterns and he helps bring a lot of focus to your life. Like I said I can’t explain it well but all of us can see just how much you two love each other.’ Riiko explained, her words had quite an impact on me and I am sure for Mira as well. I honestly felt really bad for eavesdropping after what they said, though I was in a way glad that I listened. ‘Now that we’re done with that, let’s sneak a peek!’ Shima winked, as he got closer to the fence. ‘Like hell you pervert!’ I yelled out grabbing Shima by the shoulder and ended up slipping, the three of us crashed down through the fence where we saw a very angry looking Mira and Riiko. ‘Hey there girls enjoying your bath?’ Shima smiled awkwardly knowing what was coming. ‘We were...’ Mira stated as she stepped closer, Okumura and Shima looked scared as they cowered back. ‘Mira I uh...’ I spoke while she stood over me, her soaked towel dripping down her legs. ‘If you wanted to bathe with me that badly why didn’t you say so?’ Mira smiled diving down to hug me, ‘Mira cut it out!’ I cried out as the others sighed. ‘Only Mira would take advantage of a situation like this...’ Riiko grinned, the other two nodded.

After returning from the baths we had to endure a scolding from Yukio and the owners of the inn for breaking down the fence. However once that was over the five of us decided to play cards while Yukio contacted Mephy about payment for fixing the fence. ‘And Rin is the old maid!’ Renzou laughed as I cut and shuffled the deck again. ‘Yeah I have never been very lucky at this kind of thing.’ Rin sighed, Riiko and I joined in on the laughter. ‘I will go get some more drinks,’ Ryuji stated getting up and heading for the door. ‘Do you need any help?’ I questioned, he turned back to face me with a gentle smile, ‘don’t worry I can handle it.’ He spoke continuing out the door. ‘It sure is surprising...’ Renzou spoke turning to look at me. ‘What that Ryuji went to get us drinks?’ I asked quite confused; ‘no the fact that Bon has a girlfriend.’ Renzou replied, my eyes widened, ‘why is that? He’s a cool guy I don’t see why he wouldn’t.’ Rin spoke biting into another pocky. ‘It was never a matter of him not being popular, I even found out from Koneko that before going out with Mira he had already turned down four girls by May.’ Renzou stated, everyone was quite shocked. ‘He never told me about that...’ I spoke wondering why he would hide something like that. ‘Bon from day one always stated that he didn’t have time to waste in things like love and that he needed to focus on restoring the temple. He was always quite stubborn about that, what’s funny is that he still ended up dating someone in his first year.’ Renzou laughed, ‘if Suguro said something like that it is a little shocking that he suddenly changed his mind.’ Riiko added, they all turned to face me. ‘So why did he ask me out then?’ I pondered as we all then turned to look at Renzou. ‘Well it didn’t take Koneko or me long to figure out he was falling in love with Mira, what was amusing was watching his heart and his will crash like that. I was pretty sure he wasn’t going to do anything about it but when we went to Kyoto and all that crap happened, I don’t know it’s like something in him changed.’ Renzou explained, I felt myself blush, ‘Why didn’t you just ask him?’ Rin questioned, ‘please... like he would talk about something like that. If I ever wanted the dirt I would turn to Mira first.’ Renzou spoke adamantly, ‘well there had to be some reason I mean we did almost die and he did confess to you before he thought he would.’ Rin added; ‘well as Koneko and I discussed it seems as though Bon has placed Mira first above his goal about defeating Satan and restoring the temple. No one saw that coming, well it has to be true love if he’s not doing it just to get laid right?’ Renzou laughed when the door swung wide open and Ryuji stood there looking extremely pissed. ‘Ah welcome back Bon...’ Renzou spoke looking like he would jump right out of his shadow. ‘Oi Shima I think you and I need to have a nice long chat.’ Ryuji stated putting down the drinks and cracking his knuckles, Renzou quickly took off running while Ryuji chased after him. The others laughed, I just smiled; knowing all that I do now I feel like I am the luckiest person alive.
