Chapter 3

The following morning Yuri walked up to Mila, a little nervous about having her meet Aurora. “Morning Yuri, did you sleep well?” Mila asked, giving him a suspicious smile. “Yeah, can I ask you something?” Yuri spoke, attempting to act as normal as he could. Mila was the nosey type and he had no doubts that she would imply things that weren’t true. “Is it about your new girlfriend?” Mila smirked, Yuri’s cheeks turned a deep red. “I don’t have a girlfriend! What the hell would give you that idea?” “Yakov told me, he says you have been spending a lot of time with her.” “She’s not my girlfriend, we’re just friends!” Yuri insisted, Mila however gave him a doubtful look. “Well what is it that you wanted to ask me then?” Yuri tried to calm down a little before continuing. “Aurora wants to meet you if it’s alright with you,” Yuri asked; Mila looked a little surprised before smiling. “Of course I’d love to meet your girlfriend,” she responded; Yuri glared daggers. “What did I just tell you?” He yelled, Mila draped her arm over his shoulder. “So why is it she wants to meet me?” She asked, Yuri just sighed. “She wants to be a fashion designer, she’s already really good actually. For some reason she thinks you are really pretty and nice, it’s possible she might want to design you something. I don't know, I didn’t ask her reason.” Mila blushed, “she sounds like a sweetheart, I’m guessing she is really pretty herself right?” “Huh?” Yuri blushed as Mila brought her face closer to his. “You are totally red you know that?” Mila teased, Yuri pushed her off of him. “I’m leaving, good luck today!” He spoke as he walked out of the room. Mila acted the way he thought she would, yet he still got worked up. Feeling his phone vibrate, Yuri read a message from Aurora.

Aurora: Hey Yuri! I’m heading over to the venue soon, breakfast with the family was aggravating, I am sure you can guess why… (¬_¬) However on a brighter note I totally found the perfect place for us to go to later today, I promise you will love it! (•̀o•́)ง It’s a surprise though so I can’t give any hints (。•̀ᴗ-)✧ see you soon!

Yuri smiled to himself, her messages always amused him, especially all the emoticons she used. He suddenly thought back to what Mila said, feelings his cheeks heat up again. He didn't like like her did he? He did have a lot of fun when he was with her, not to mention that when he wasn't he did find himself thinking about her… but that's what friendship is though, right? Yuri shook his head; he shouldn't be thinking such stupid thoughts in the first place.

Aurora ran up to Yuri giving him a big smile. “Hey Yuri!” Yuri felt his cheeks heat up again, that stupid thought from earlier kept looming over him. “Hey, let’s head over to see Mila, she should be done with warm up soon.” Yuri responded, turning back to look at her as he had already made his way. “Sounds good!” Aurora chimed as she took her place walking beside him. “Did you bring your sketchbook?” Yuri asked as Aurora’s cheeks turned slightly red. “Y-yes but I don’t plan on showing her.” “Why? Didn't you say you wanted to design something for her?” “T-that's not the point Yuri, I’m not a professional or anything, I can’t just go up to pro skaters and be all, “Hey can I design something for you?” What kind of sane person would do that?” Aurora argued. “I get your point, though it didn’t stop you from asking me?” Yuri smirked smugly. “That was different…” Aurora blushed, avoiding her gaze. “How exactly?” Yuri questioned, “it just is!” She continued to defend. “Hmm…” Yuri wasn’t sure what the difference was, however there was no point in arguing with her.

Mila made her way off the ice, spotting Yuri and Aurora, she then came over smiling. “Hey Yuri, glad you came. You must be Aurora, it’s nice to meet you!” Aurora blushed, Mila was even more beautiful in person. “It’s so nice to meet you too, good luck today!” Aurora replied nervously. “Thanks! Yuri she really is a cutie!” Mila winked, both Aurora and Yuri turned bright red, for different reasons. “T-thank you…” Aurora continued to blush. “Yuri tells me that you are into fashion design, I would love to see your work later!” Mila stated, Aurora’s eyes widened. “Yes of course!” Aurora smiled, Mila waved as she headed over to coach Yakov. “She is so much prettier in person,” Aurora fawned, giving Yuri an adorable smile. Yuri blushed which Aurora noticed. “Do you have a crush on her or something?” Aurora asked before she could stop herself. “Hah? Of course not!” Yuri yelled back, “sorry, just curious is all.” Aurora chuckled, relieved by his answer. The two made their way to the stands to watch the performances, finding some empty seats. Aurora’s arm pressed up against Yuri’s; that was enough to make her heart start racing. There was something about being close to him like this, it held both the feeling of exhilaration and security. Even if he was here right now it wouldn't last, soon he would be gone.

Mila’s performance was awe inspiring, she had landed every jump perfectly. After Mila had gotten her score and finished watching her friends, she had a nice talk with Aurora. Yuri watched, though on one level it was nice to see the two of them getting along, on the other had he also felt like this might affect him in a negative way. Aurora did look really nervous showing her sketchbook, of course Mila liked her work. They exchanged contact information and Aurora looked really happy as Yuri and her left the venue. “You seem to be in a good mood,” Yuri smirked as Aurora grinned. “I guess, but soon you will be the one in a good mood!” Yuri’s smirk just widened, “what are you planning to do?” He spoke curiously, causing Aurora’s face to turn redder then a tomato. “W-wha… I didn’t mean… I wasn’t!” Aurora stammered, covering her face. Yuri just laughed, making Aurora’s heart stop. She had never seen him laugh before, it was likely that not many had. He looked even more gorgeous then normal. Continuing to stare in awe eventually caught Yuri’s attention. “What is it?” “I’ve never heard you laugh before… you should more often,” Aurora smiled sweetly. Yuri’s cheeks turned a light shade of red, averting his eyes and rubbing the back of his neck; “yeah I guess…” Grabbing a cab, Aurora handed a piece of paper to the driver. “Are you going to tell me where you are taking us?” Yuri questioned, looking over to Aurora who was just grinning. “Nope! Just wait and see,” she winked. Yuri knew that she must be excited for some reason, however he figured she was overselling at this point.

Yuri’s eyes sparkled like a child in a candy factory, after gawking he turned to look at Aurora who found his expression to be the cutest thing she had ever seen. “There are cats everywhere!” Yuri exclaimed with excitement. “It’s a cat café! They are everywhere in Japan but I found out that there was one here and I knew we had to visit.” Aurora explained as the two entered the room, taking a seat. “This place is amazing!” Yuri spoke as he started petting every cat in sight. “I know right? They are all so adorable!” Aurora smiled as she also began petting them. Yuri couldn’t believe that such a place existed, he got to relax, have a drink and play with dozens of cats which helped him miss his own a little less. He looked over to Aurora who was using one of the tassel toys to entertain two of the cats. The look on her face was so gentle and happy, her eyes sparkled; she laughed when one of the cats pounced, missing the toy completely. An orange cat decided to curl up and sleep on his lap, Aurora scooted over, rubbing behind it’s ears. Her hair brushed past him, a rush of feelings took over him, he suddenly had a strong urge to touch her hair, or just her in general. “He looks really happy sleeping on you,” Aurora spoke, light catching her eyes and lips. Yuri’s palms started to sweat and his body felt hot; looking back at the cat he spotted a scratch on Aurora’s hand. “What happened?” He asked, “oh just one of the cats I was playing with was quicker than me is all,” she responded. Yuri grabbed her hand, bringing it closer to his face for a better view. Aurora’s heart was going wild, even if it wasn’t the first time he had touched her like this; this time was different. He wasn’t helping her skate; he was genuinely concerned for her. Blushing, she couldn’t stop looking at him as he examined her. Looking down Yuri took note of Aurora’s red cheeks, blushing himself the second he realized that now he was just holding her hand.

Yuri dropped her hand almost instantly, “sorry…” he spoke, looking down. “No, don’t be!” Aurora responded, pulling her hand into her chest. She didn’t want him thinking that she was uncomfortable what-so-ever so she moved over to sit beside him, her arm pressed up against his. Yuri didn’t say anything; he wouldn't even know what to say. His heart was racing yet he felt content; being around cats always made him happy, but he felt happy in another way this time. Aurora had noticed that Yuri’s eyes had been closed for a while now, he didn’t move at all either. Brushing his bangs to the side it then became clear that he had fallen asleep. Smiling to herself, Aurora looked at the time and saw that it was getting really late, they had now been there for over 3 hours. She knew that he needed to get back, after all tomorrow was the Free Program skate and Yuri was clearly tired. It was a shame though, he looked so sweet and peaceful with the cat also asleep on his lap. To never forget how this looked she quickly snapped a photo of Yuri before waking him.

The following day was Yuri’s final skate, his Free Program. His movements were like art taking form, fast and swift with such a wide range of motion. He truly looked like a Prima Ballerina, even if that was contradictory to his image, he performed it beautifully. He seemed so proud of himself as well, it made Aurora really happy, especially when he turned to look at her, smiling. In one second he felt on top of the world, sadly it didn't last. Not surprisingly, JJ’s score was off the charts again, he had passed Yuri and took gold. It killed her, the look on Yuri’s face as he stood on the podium was painful to see. She had never before seen him look so disappointed in himself. It hurt, his eyes were too sad, way too sad for someone who did as well as he did. She understood it though, she knew how hard he had been working, it’s just that JJ had much more stamina and took more risks. Yuri’s performance was still in her opinion much more beautiful to watch, though right now it didn’t look like Yuri would believe her anyway. It was hard but Aurora managed to drag Yuri out after his silver medal win. He was really down in the dumps, every time Aurora tried to strike up a conversation it didn’t end well. Stopping for dinner, Aurora ordered even though Yuri claimed that he wasn’t hungry, meaning she also had to order something for him. “Yuri you have to cheer up, I am telling you that you were amazing!” Aurora spoke, hoping to raise his spirits in the slightest. “Just not amazing enough…” he retorted, taking a sip of his drink. Aurora sighed, “you have no idea what you are talking about, trust me okay?” Aurora smiled. “What qualifies you to judge?” Yuri spoke, looking up with that sadness still visible in his eyes. “It was my blood relative that beat you wasn’t it?” “Your point?” “Yuri I have seen him preform for years now, yet not once in my entire life has he ever made me feel nearly as much as when I watch you!” Aurora proclaimed causing a little bit of life to return to Yuri’s eyes. “Maybe that's because you don’t like him,” “I don’t think there is a rule that you have to like someone to be awestruck by them…” Aurora sighed, it was apparent at this point that she wasn’t going to be able to get through to him. Yuri did take her words to heart, however he was so down on himself it didn't matter, he had to work harder, he needed to be better, to be the best!

Finishing off their food, Aurora was glad that Yuri was able to eat something, despite being as depressed as he was. She however felt a fiery ball of metal in her stomach the second she heard her name called out. “Fuck…” she spoke in a low tone as her mother, JJ, and the rest of her family approached. “Oh hi honey, I had no idea that this is where you were going on your date, sorry to bug you!” Her mother smiled, turning to look at Yuri who felt extremely uncomfortable. “You two sure look cute and cozy together! I look forward to our next battle Yuri!” JJ winked before returning to his girlfriend at their table. Yuri just glared, he really couldn’t stand that guy. Aurora placed the money on the table, surprising Yuri as she grabbed his hand and ran out of the restaurant. Eventually coming to a stop down the street, Aurora let Yuri’s hand go before banging her head on a wall, yelling, “I really can’t stand them!” Yuri was a little shocked, he had never seen her yell like that. “Sorry…” she spoke turning to look at him. “Don’t be, I get it, trust me,” Yuri gave her a little smile. “Yet you don’t trust me?” She gave him a playful look. “It’s different,” Yuri spoke as the two of them started to walk through the park. “I do believe with all my heart that you are a better skater then JJ.” Aurora looked at Yuri who showed no change in expression. “Hey, listen to me!” Aurora yelled, grabbing Yuri’s arm and turning him to face her. He was completely taken back when she grabbed both his cheeks with force, her eyes boring into his. “You are being stupid! This was your first time competing at the adult level and you still did this amazing. I was completely captured by you, I couldn’t look away for a second… you have to know how amazing you are, I know it, everyone else knows it, and normally you know it! Don’t let one loss to him get you this down, JJ is a great skater, but you have more potential, even I can see that! Yuri, you are absolutely amazing…” Yuri felt his heart pounding, seeing tears stream down Aurora’s face snapped him out of it. This weird girl was even crying for him. “Cпасибо Aurora…” Yuri spoke, blushing very noticeably. Aurora just smiled back, letting go of his face. “Are you staying for the girls’ skate tomorrow?” Yuri asked, catching Aurora’s attention. “Yeah, how about you?” “Yeah I have to go back with Yakov so I will be here as long as he is.” “So… can I see you again tomorrow?” Aurora blushed, clutching her chest. Yuri blushes as well, “sounds good…” he responds, giving a little smile back. The two then head back to the hotel together.

A loud thud was heard when Aurora’s head collided with a pole. “Owe…” she groaned, rubbing her head. “Who walks into a pole like that?” Yuri asked, a little bit concerned. “I wasn’t paying attention…” that was true, all she could think about was that tomorrow would be her last day with Yuri. Crashing head on into a pole didn’t even come close to the pain she was already feeling. “You need to be more careful,” Yuri lectured. “Sorry…” Aurora spoke, following after him. It didn’t take long for a second incident to occur; about 30 seconds later Aurora tripped in a pot hole, catching her balance, avoiding a fall. Yuri just snickered, “man you are a klutz,” Aurora just smiled back, she was glad Yuri was smiling again, whatever the reason. Crossing the street, the light was counting down with 7 seconds left. “Let’s make a break for it!” Yuri commanded, Aurora chased after him, however running was not a strength of hers. Coming to the end of the street she slipped in small puddle of oil, sliding forward. “Kyaa!” She cried out as she found arms suddenly wrapped around her, supporting her. “Geeze I can’t take my eyes off of you for a second!” Yuri sighed, “thanks for the save…” Aurora blushed, feeling mortified once again. “Come on, let’s go,” Yuri spoke as he took hold of Aurora’s hand, his fingers intertwined with hers. She couldn’t grasp just what was happening, her heart felt like it would explode. “T-this way you won’t trip again,” Yuri informed, his heart too however was racing like crazy. Walking back hand in hand, Yuri didn’t even care if anyone saw him, not that he would ever admit it, but he liked it… holding her hand like this.

Arriving close to the hotel, Yuri comes to the realization that he should probably let go of her hand, for her sake. Who knows what his fanclub would do to her if they saw anything. “I-I’ll message you later, thanks for what you said earlier…” Yuri says, trying to hide the fact he was blushing. Aurora felt such warmth from him, the second her hand was let go her whole world suddenly became a little colder. “Yeah, talk soon…” she smiled, even though she didn't want him to go. The day he would leave was coming closer and closer; him turning away, about to walk inside made Aurora’s brain and heart clash, a battle at this point she didn't know which she wanted to win. “Yuri wait!” Aurora spoke, Yuri turned around as he suddenly felt lips pressed against his cheek. Completely flustered when Aurora pulled back to look at him, blushing herself. Pressing his fingers to where she had kissed him, it was obvious that he was a blushing mess. “Later!” He spoke before turning and running into the hotel. Aurora wondered if she did the right thing, he was clearly embarrassed but he didn't seem to hate it. Aurora smiled to herself, whatever this was she didn’t want it to end when Yuri left, but what about him?
Chapter 1-  Snow HalationChapter 1
His movements were beautiful, his slender features made him out to be an angel. His blonde hair looked so soft and light, the way it flowed as he skated captivated her, she felt as though he had put her under a trance. He appeared to move as light as a feather, spinning as if he was defying gravity itself. For the first time Aurora could see that there was much more to figure skating then she had previously thought. Sure, there was always the entertainment factor, however watching this boy was different, she found herself out of breath, completely mesmerised. This Yuri Plisetsky was something, he was someone who clearly pushed himself beyond his limits. Aurora had viewed many figure skating performance before, her cousin was the current top Canadian figure skater. Even though she didn’t like him very much, her mother insisted if they didn’t go to one of his competitions then they should at least watch him on TV. One day Aurora just happened to catch the World Juni

Heading back to her room Aurora was relieved to see that her mother hadn’t gotten back yet and she could just close her eyes and relax. Did she ruin things with Yuri before by kissing his cheek? He was Russian though, she knew that kisses were common between friends and teammates there, but it was possible she crossed a line. Rolling over to look at her phone, she saw that she had gotten a message from Yuri.
Yuri: Hey Aurora, come up to my room if your free. I finally got rid of Yakov so we can watch a movie or something. Talk soon!
Aurora’s heart rate sped up almost instantly, clearly he wasn’t turned off by earlier. Quickly responding that she was heading up, Aurora rushed out the door like it was no one’s business. Arriving at Yuri’s room, he opened the door nervously. Getting rid of Yakov was a challenge, but it seemed even he agreed that Yuri was better off staying in his room with his new friend then prancing around town. Agreeing on a movi
